What OpenSource Software could do for Business in Jersey?

Why use proprietary software if it does not add features or functionality needed by your business ?

There are public and free alternatives that you can use. Steps to take: Plan, Implement, Configure and Educate. DIY or Contact me for assistance!

OpenSource Databases

Are you running databases on your Windows-servers?

Could you use or do you need simpler systems to support some applications?
Do you want a simple and web-based administration interface?
Are you overpowering servers with databases with to much capacity and functionality? Do you want to Save license cost?

Get this! and ....

Use your existing hardware. Get better performance! Support more users on one system! Your users won't know the difference!

Replacing MS-SqlServer or Oracle or any other commercial database by OpenSource databases might include a lot of work ( it almost allways does ) with application changes and re testing and verifying your applications.

But it might be worth it. A lot of databases are used for very simple tasks, I do not mean all now !, but there are a lot of systems that could use a simpler subsystem to perform the database tasks that are required. So if the functions that the database are providing is simple then it could be a target for replacement. BUT, This is something that has to be examined and planned very carefully.

The databases that could be targeted for replacement is those that not are to complex and where access mostly is through standard SQL with ODBC or JDBC access.
Free OpenSource databases to consider might be:

PostgreSQL  thinkSql  or   Ocelot

Check my database pages for alternative databases and tools.
