Martin Toonder (2/5/1912 - 27/7/2005) created a genious comic strip that was first published in 1938 In Argentina and Czechoslovakia as a weekly comic strip, then in the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf in the Netherlands 1941 and later in several other newspapers and countries.
 The title and the main character is a cat figure, noble, courageous, and heroic. He is accompanied by Oliver B. Bumble that gradually became the main character. It's not really a child's comic series, but often contains psychological and mystical ideas and references from different areas of the time.
